Dreams Do Come True

My wishes have come true and I am now home forever. My foster mom and dad have decided that I should stay with them. I'm soooo happy. Thanks IBR for bringing us together. I hope that all my other brothers and sisters in foster care can find the happy ending I have been blessed to experience.

It's Been A While

It's been a while sense anything has been updated, so I figure I'd give you a fresh face to look at and a movie of me running in the dog park. It's a lot of fun to run around with other dogs. Would you like to do it with me sometime. I'll be waiting.

...and here a word from Gilligan himself...

Hey everyone Gilly here. It has been a bit since I have written. Wow do I have an update.
I have gotten rid of all those bad heart worms. I did such a great job of healing from my treatment. My foster mom says she is SOOOOOOOO!!!! proud of me. She says I am a miracle boy. Last week I got my final surgery - neutered. Darn they remembered, I thought after all the things they had to do to get me well that they might forget about that, but they remembered. My foster mom said I needed to have that done to be ready for my FUREVER home. SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL OF YOU ARE WAITING FOR, I am ready to go.
I am the most adorable, fun, loving pocket setter you have ever seen, now I am ready to get settled into a new home. Because of my past I have been listed as special needs, but with nutrition therapy, supplements, lots of TLC, and getting rid of those heart worms plus having some training lessons, I have made unbelievable progress.
I have two fur sisters that I live with and I have just become part of the family. I love the routine my mom has created for me.

I am a fantastic eater. I love all the toys here. One of my fur sisters is a toy fanatic and this house has more dog toys than any three dogs could use. I am probably between 2 and 3 years old. Sometimes I am like a puppy because I am being exposed to so many things I have never seen or felt before. My foster mom says I must have been confined and had very little human contact because so many things are new to me.
I took to that petting, cuddling thing real well. I discovered I love humans. My foster mom realized I was updating my blog, she ask me to tell all of you, you don't know what you are missing in life, if you haven't taken the time to meet me. I am blushing (not), I think I am a true catch of a rescue dog. Foster mom and I are waiting to hear from you. She says, you are going to have to be a very special person to adopt a very special dog like me.

...dreaming of my forever home...

Hi! Gilligan here. Wow! It has been five weeks since IBR saved my life, and I DO mean saved my life. I had basically given up when John picked me up from that transport in Champagne, IL. I got on the transport from a nice lady named Dottie who send out the SOS to IBR. My life had been so hard and I was starving to death. John and Susan were so kind to put up with my obsessive barking, devoting all of their time and sleep, and provided me with a warm, safe home with food and furry friends. Thank you, John and Susan.
Then two weeks later I took a ride to a new foster home. Camp Davis has been different but I am now getting use to things. I missed John and Susan and it took me a few days to get use to this new place. But now watch out!
Here at Camp Davis, I have gained about 3-4 pounds in the last three weeks. There is all the food I want, I can hardly believe it, every time I turn around my foster mom has more food for me. It has been hard but I have held my reserve, when she has offered me that really healthy, good food. I have insisted on the basic hamburger and rice diet. I hear from my fur siblings that she has been adding all kinds of nutrient supplements to it that are helping me to heal and get very strong, so I let her think she is sneaking goodness to me, but I really know because I feel better very day. My reserve has finally weakened and she has won. I just can't resist that raw Northwest Naturals Chicken and still all those healthy supplements. But boy, do I feel fantastic. She has finally converted me to the healthy diet, and I eat like a wild man when she comes in the room with that bowl. Who would have guessed I would still be alive and this healthy in only five weeks!
My foster mom takes me to this place where these two ladies make me crazy. I hear her say that they are doctors and that they are helping to heal me, but it drives me crazy. I run around like a wild man. I am so glad when we go home and foster mom picks me up to cuddle with her in the mushroom chair. I think this is the best part of being at Camp Davis is the cuddle time in the mushroom chair with my foster mom. She tells me it is her favorite time too.
I don't mean to sound conceited, but really look at those pictures. Am I not the cutest little English setter you have ever seen? My foster mom says that I am one of the cuties dogs she has ever met and that is quite a compliment considering how many dogs she has seen in IBR.
I have attached a few pics of myself, look at me in one of my quiet moments, I am sporting my fur sister's new winter coat, and I am curled up sleeping in my house with my cute T-shirt....AND there are some pics of me snuggling up to my foster mommy Anne.

Little Steps...

Just an update on Gilligan. He sure is doing much better today. He is a big wiggle butt, and cries like a big baby when you give him a bath. His cough is so much better, we don't even give him cough suppressant any more.

Gilligan arrives in Foster Care!

Gilligan is arrived at his foster home. His foster dad writes: Well the boy from Murphysboro has arrived. Gilligan is in sad shape. He was covered with urine and fecis so, after 3 baths and a dose of advantage, hopefully all the fleas are gone. He is very thin, weighs 22 pounds. He seem to prefer my wife handling him rather than me. I made an appointment for him on Monday so we can begin to treat him for heartworms. He is very sweet.
